Congratulations to Sangusa Pullket

Dr Aisah Al-QurashiCongratulation to Aisha Al-Qurashi who successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled 'Rainfall-Runoff Modelling in Arid Areas'.  Well done Aisha.

 

 


Jaun-Pablo Rodriguez SanchezJuan-Pablo Rodriguez Sanchez was awarded the Pavior's Laing Travel Award 2008 for his research into urban drainage modelling. He will use the award to travel to Linz, Innsbruck and Graz for collaborative research

 


Ilias PechlivanidisIlias Pechlivanidis attended the International Congress on Environmental Modelling and Software  Conference (iEMSs 2008) where he presented two papers and was awarded the “Society’s Student Paper Commendation for excellent paper and presentation”.  His papers were entitled:

 

  • “The Significance of Spatial Variability of Rainfall on Runoff” that was co-authored by N. McIntyre and H.S. Wheater from Imperial College London, UK; and 
  •  “A Toolbox for the Identification of Parsimonious Semi-Distributed Rainfall-Runoff Models: Application to the Upper Lee Catchment” authored by B. Orellana, I.G. Pechlivanidis, N. McIntyre, H.S. Wheater from Imperial College London, UK, and T. Wagener from the Pennsylvania State University, USA.


Congratulations to Dr Ivan Stoianov, Professor Nigel Graham, Dr Arun Arora and Dr Danny O'Hare for winning the Imperial Innovators of the Year Competion 2008.  The team won 1st prize in the academic category for "Self Cleaning Multi-Parameter Water Sensor".

Abdelhamid Beshara took top prize in the young category for his "Encapsulating Wastes in Vegetable Oils."
