In July 2006, on a steamy day in London, six of the group met up again in the refined surroundings of Hugo's Restaurant in Exhibition Road. Not even England's defeat in the World Cup could dampen the elation as we discussed our families, described our careers since leaving the College and reminisced about our time as students. We drank a toast to absent friends - three who couldn't make the date and our dear Stephanie who sadly passed away some years ago.
In July 1973, the 10 students completing the first Materials Science course to run at Imperial College had met up outside Southside to bid each other a fond farewell at the end of their three year course. There was the compulsory photograph taken, as seen here.
We noted, and the more recent photo of Material Science Class of 1973 shows, how time had added inches to most waists and grey hairs to most heads, but that day we were back to being 21 for a few hours. We are resolved to meet again, and have promised each other not to leave it 33 years again.
