THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF NAVIGATION: eLoran Training Day - Monday 27 October 2008
The Royal Institute of Navigation is pleased to announce the following to all PhD, MSc, final year students, academic or post-doctoral researchers...
The RIN and the three General Lighthouse Authorities (GLAs) of the UK & Ireland (Trinity House, Commissioners of Irish Lights and the Northern Lighthouse Board) are pleased to announce that a one-day eLoran tutorial will be taking place on 27 October 2008, the day before the NAV08/ILA37 conference & Exhibition.
Robust, reliable and high-performance positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) is the lifeblood of a modern society's critical infrastructure: power systems, telecommunications, transport and finance. GPS has revolutionised PNT but it has known vulnerabilities. Galileo will have a positive impact on GNSS reliability, but satellite systems share common vulnerabilities at the signal and user levels. The tutorial is being fronted by a team of international experts, with Professor David Last leading the programme. Professor Last, the immediate past President of the Royal Institute of Navigation is internationally known for his work on eLoran.
