Dr Lian H Lee (Westminster Medical School 1953)
Provided by Dr Leonard Lee
My late father was always proud of his association with Imperial College and spoke warmly about
his experiences in post war London as a medical student and as a houseman, and endeavoured to
attend reunions where possible. After graduation he pursued postgraduate studies in psychiatry in
the United States, subsequently was medical director of the American International Assurance
Company and then migrated to Australia, where he had a successful general practice in Sydney.
He was a popular and gentle man, with a deep love of music, and much loved by his often socially
deprived patients, and family and retired a few years before his death aged 82. He has 3 children and
is survived by his wife Grace: His eldest son Leonard followed the family tradition by completing a
medical degree, albeit at the University of Sydney, and obtained Fellowship in the Royal Australian
and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
