CIVIL SERVICE FAST STREAM: Volunteers for Assessment Trials - be paid £90!

The Cabinet Office would like your help in the development of the 2009 Civil Service Fast Stream selection process.

Background:
We need volunteers to take part in the trial of the 2009 Civil Service Fast Stream selection process. The trial will take the form of an assessment centre – mirroring the actual method of assessment used in the latter stages of the Fast Stream selection.

Assessment Centre:
This involves participating for one day of individual and group exercises.  We will contact those volunteering for these trials individually before the assessment centre to confirm attendance and to answer any questions you might have.

Eligibility:
We want to involve a broad cross-section of university students in this development work but as these are high level tests you will need to:

  • be a UK national whose first language is English
  • have or expect to get at least a 2.2 degree (in any subject)
  • be prepared to give the tests your best effort and treat them as confidential
  • be prepared to commit to a full day (8am – 6pm) of assessments
  • give an undertaking that you will not apply for the 2009 entry for the Civil Service Fast Stream. Although you will not be allowed to apply for the Fast Stream in 2009 you will be able to apply for other civil service jobs in 2008 and you can apply to the Fast Stream for the 2010 or later entries.

Timing:
The assessment centre trials will take a full day and will be held on:

  • Thursday 30th October
  • Monday 3rd November
  • Wednesday 5th November

All days will run from 8am – 6pm, however likely to finish earlier, and travel expenses and lunch will be provided.

Application form:
Please complete this application form and return it to david.inglis@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk.  Due to restriction of numbers, candidates will be accepted on a first come first served basis (providing you meet the minimum criteria). Competition for places is expected to be very strong, so the earlier you send in your application, the more likely it is that you will be successful.  We have asked for your National Insurance (NI) number for administrative purposes. Please note that this information will be kept confidential and destroyed once the development work has been completed. If you are selected to take part in the trials you will be asked to complete a claim form with your bank details, for payment to be made directly into your account.

Payment:
You will be paid £90, we will reimburse your travel expenses and lunch will be provided. Payment is subject to the attached terms and conditions.

Further Information:
If you have any questions regarding the trials email david.inglis@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk or for information on the Fast Stream visit our website at www.faststream.gov.uk.
