CMS/New feature – logins for external users to browse/update sites
Site Owners can request the creation of logins for external users so they can view restricted pages and update content
The Web Team have implemented a process whereby CMS Site Owners can raise a Service Desk request for new logins to be created for external (non-College) users.
These logins:
- may only be requested by CMS SITE OWNERS. The list of owners is at http://www.imperial.ac.uk/webguide/governanceandmanagement/transition/listofsiteowners
- will be set up for ONE YEAR only. After this time, the site owner must re-apply to continue the login, otherwise it will be disabled.
- will only give access to CMS pages. They will not allow users to login to the network.
- must only be assigned 'View', 'Manage Items with Approval' or 'Manage Content' permission. They must NOT be given 'Manage All' permission for the site or 'Manage' permission to pages within the site. This means that external users will not be able to add or delete pages, apply permissions or change navigation settings. These actions will have to be done by a Site Owner or Site Editor
- will be included in the CMS group NON-IMPERIAL-USERS but not in IMPERIAL-USERS. This means that they will NOT be able to see pages restricted to those with College logins.
CMS Site Owners must give the Service Desk these details about the user for whom a login is required:
- Surname
- First Name
- Email address
- Telephone no (optional)
Once a login has been created, the Site Owner is responsible for the actions taken by the person using that login.
