CMS/PWPs - CMS and PWP training information for 2005/6 has been published
New CMS and PWP Courses and Training Dates for 2005/6
CMS training dates for 2005/6 have been published on the ICT Website Services site at http://www.imperial.ac.uk/ict/services/website/developmentinportalcms/cmstraining .
The ICT Web Team will be running two additional courses for the 2005/6 academic year.
CMS Training
As well as the standard CMS training course (now called CMS Stage 1), a CMS Stage 2 course will be offered. This will be a half-day course and will cover in more detail some of the additional features available. The course content is being finalised but will include:
- Advanced Editor hints and tips
- New Item types - Auto-redirect, In This Section
- Meta tags for Search engines
- Imperial Home Page template
- Editing using Linux or Mac
- Introduction to Portal Database functionality
- Interpreting Web Stats
- College Search Engine
- News & Events
- People Lists
- Creating and editing PWPs
- Publications Search
PWP Training
Hour-long lunchtime sessions called Populating PWPs will be run for PWP owners who will be editing their own PWPs and for administrators who will be populating PWPs on behalf of others. This training will explain the elements of a PWP and how to set up content in each element. It will cover basic editing of text, hyperlinks, and how to add images.
