Mr Robert D. Bagnall (Wye College 1959)
Provided by Mrs Meg Bagnall.
He was at Wye from 1955 to 1959 studying horticulture. His admission to University had been delayed because during the war he was a concientious objector. He had wanted to be an engineer but because of not wanting any such skills to be used for the war effort he chose horticulture instead.
Prior to going to Wye he had worked in the Birmingham parks, gaining experience and qualifications enabling him to teach, which career he followed.
He thoroughly enjoyed his years at Wye and often spoke with great affection and admiration of the staff. He also made life long friends with whom I am still in touch.
Robert married Meg in 1969 and had a daughter and two sons of whom he was extremely proud. There are also two adorable small grandsons! It is a very close family, with great love and respect for Robert as a husband, father and grandfather, and for the great man of principle that he was. He is greatly missed.
