Kashi Nath was born in 1924 in a village in the Howrah district of West Bengal, India, and went on to become a successful visionary. He was an active alumnus of the Imperial College Alumni Association and he took over the responsibilities of the Honraryy Secretary of the Calcutta Chapter of the Association in the mid-sixties. Prior to pursuing his D.I.C. from Imperial College and his MSc from the University of London in 1954, he completed his A.R.T.C. from the Royal College of Science and Technology, Glasgow, in 1951 which subsequently became the University of Strathclyde which converted the A.R.T.C. to a BSc Degree. While in the UK, he went on to acquire much technical experience at many prestigious companies including Fullerton, Hodgart and Barclay Ltd.

Kashi returned to India towards the end of 1956 and joined the Delhi Polytechnic for a few months before he moved to Calcutta and joined the Machinery Manufacturing Corporation. Whilst there he was in charge of Design and Development of Textile Machinery, and when he left the company in 1973 Kashi founded his own consultancy firm that grew from a small unit to a large organisation which is still functioning under the name of M/S K.N.Kumar and Associates Pvt. Ltd today.

Dynamic as he was, he was also a member of different professional organisations such as Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India, member of the Institution of Production Engineers, member of the Institution of Chartered Engineers, life member of the Institution of Valuersm and life member of the Indian Science Congress. He was an active member of the Glasgow Auld students of the Calcutta chapter but over and above all these, he was very much involved in the Calcutta Chapter of City and Guild Association as well as the Imperial College Alumni Association of India and was dedicated to keeping the Calcutta Chapter active. He maintained a continuous contact with the Imperial College Alumni Association of India at its headquarters and Kashi also made efforts to contact and bring in new alumni to the periodical meetings whenever possible.

He has left a void which will be difficult to fill.
