npower: Energy Challenge 2009

What should a power generation company’s response be to climate change?

Now in its third year, the npower Energy Challenge is once again bringing together some of the UK’s brightest undergraduate minds and asking them, ‘What should a power generation company’s response be to climate change?’

When looking for a resolution teams must consider the following:

  • areas of security of supply
  • affordability
  • sustainability

npower are inviting teams of undergraduates in their final or penultimate year to enter this competition. Each team must consist of four students and a lecturer. If selected to attend the heat stage teams will put forward their presentation to a panel of industry experts.  Successful entrants will be invited to one of two regional heats in early 2009 to compete for a place in the final to be held soon afterwards. Supporters are welcome to attend. Individual cash prizes are on offer for finalists with a larger amount awarded to the overall winning team. The 2009 npower Energy Challenge will also include a further, as yet undisclosed, element to enhance the winning experience. It promises to be truly rewarding.

The deadline for entries is Monday 26th January 2009.

The challenge is an invaluable networking opportunity for participants to meet with npower staff from across the UK. It also adds a practical dimension to participants’ studies and the all-important commercial awareness so many employers ask for. This is a dynamic time to be involved in the energy industry and calls for the finest minds in engineering, science and business. Spark the debate and apply today!
