The Electrical Engineering Class of 1970 held a reunion in May 2005 at the Imperial College Union.

The Electrical Engineering class of 1967-70 held a reunion at Imperial College Union on Saturday 14 May. Of the original 100 that started the course, 40 made it from far and wide, including the US, Canada and continental Europe. With partners and offspring as well, the total party came to 70.

On the day of the reunion, we stuck up some specially designed posters to provide directions, and to aid recognition all were issued with badges incorporating the original final year departmental mug shot. A photographer was on hand, and generated a new set of portraits for this 35th anniversary, as well as reproducing some original dog-eared group shots brought along for the occasion. And of course we rounded off with a group shot of all together in the Union Quad.

We were very fortunate to be joined by a couple of original members of staff, Colin Vickery and Bob Spence, as well as the current Deputy Head of Department, Peter Cheung. After lunch in the Union Dining Hall, rounded off with a noisy and hilarious rendition of the class final year song Bless them All, Professor Cheung bravely escorted the increasingly jovial crowd around the department and other noteworthy college sites. This included our original lecture theatre, where true to form he was bombarded with paper darts. Finally we decamped to the Queen's Arms, followed by a visit to Khan's in Bayswater for a curry.

This event was a tremendous success. Key to making it happen is a dedicated team that meets once or twice a year for a planning session in the Union Bar. These planning sessions have become mini-reunions in their own right. Thirty people turned up for the last one. Needless to say most of the time is spent talking, drinking and laughing, and we invariably end up in a meal trip down memory lane in South Kensington or China Town.
