Over 40 Imperial alumni and their guests attended a dinner event in at the luxurious Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday 3 February 2009.

Hosted by Mr Syamal Gupta, FIC Director of Tata Sons and Chairman of the Imperial College India Foundation and organised in collaboration with the Imperial College Alumni Association of India, the alumni event was intended to be held in honour of Sir Roy Anderson's first visit to India as Rector. Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions in London, several flights out of the city were cancelled resulting in his visit being postponed. Although this was a disappointment to both the Rector and the alumni, the event went ahead as scheduled and alumni had an enjoyable evening.

The President of the Alumni Association Mr Rajive Kaul read out a message on behalf of the Rector in which he updated alumni on recent Imperial College developments such as the ranking of the College as a leader in research in the UK as per the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

Following Mr Kaul's address, young alumni were invited to take the stage and introduce themselves; the youngest alumnus having just graduated last year making this his first alumni event. Afterwards, alumni were treated to a selection of cocktails and a buffer dinner allowing ample opportunity to reminisce with old friends and meet new ones.

Our thanks to the Imperial College Alumni Association of India for organising this wonderful event, in particular to Amrita Banerjee, Rajive Kaul and Syamal Gupta without whom this reunion would not have been possible.
