"I'm a great fan of "Strictly Come Dancing " on the telly, marvelling at the so-swiftly honed skills of the celebrities, and debating endlessly the John Sergeant controversy. However, I never believed I would have the opportunity to have a go myself, so it was fantastic to be asked to compete in Imperial's own dance competition. It was a bit daunting though, since I've never had any formal training in either latin or ballroom dancing. But my partner Marion and the professional coaches, have been brilliant. Ever cheerful, Marion , a PhD student in Earth Sciences from Paris ,has guided me through, not only the dancing, but also in getting me to believe that I can do this. And when helping a student with some physics recently, at least I was able to say " Come on, if I can learn to dance, then you can learn physics ! "
