Agilent Technologies Participates in Teaching Activities at the Department
Agilent Technologies together with Dr Tim Albrecht from the Department of Chemistry host a programme of lectures and hands-on experience for final year students.
Agilent Technologies (Nanomeasurements Division, Reading) participated in a new 4th Year course "Tools for nanoscale characterization" introduced by Dr. Tim Albrecht, by bringing state -of-the-art scanning probe equipment to the Department. For a whole day on Thursday, 19th February, Agilent Application Engineer Dr. Fiona Frehill worked together with the students on their own samples, for example catalyst surfaces or polymer films from final year projects to characterize the surface topography and other properties. This combination of lectures and hands-on experience turned out to be an excellent way of consolidating the taught material and exposing the students to the latest developments in the area. Given the cost of such equipment, this could only be implemented with such a partnership between academia and industry.
