The PhD Studentships will work on the EPSRC/MobileVCE Core-5 research programme entitled Green Radio.
The PhD Projects
Studentships are available for the following PhD projects:
- Radio Resource Management for Future Mobile Cellular Radio Networks
- Radio Resource Management for Future Enterprise and Home Networks
- Architectures and Network Coding for Enterprise and Home Networks
Details of Studentships:
- Each 3½ year PhD project will be carried out in the Institute of Advanced Telecommunications (IAT, www.swansea.ac.uk/iat) within the School of Engineering, Swansea University
- UK/EU applicants: Each studentship will cover the full university tuition fee and provide a minimum starting stipend of £12,940 pa. Minimum stipends are fixed annually by EPSRC. Stipends may be topped up according to qualification, experience and/or performance
- International applicants: Each studentship will cover the full university tuition fee (including the overseas contribution) and provide a minimum starting stipend of £12,940 pa. Minimum stipends are fixed annually by EPSRC. Stipends will NOT be topped up for overseas applicants
Eligibility:
- Studentships are open applicants from the UK, EU and overseas
- Applicants should hold a 1st class Honours degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science or a closely related discipline
- Preference will be given to applicants who hold a master’s degree at distinction level
- The studentships would also suit mature individuals with relevant industrial experience wishing to return to study

The scholarships are available now and must be taken up before 1st June 2009. The closing date for applications is 3rd April 2009.
