Rector Sir Roy Anderson attends alumni dinner in Bangkok
The Imperial College Association of Thailand (ICAT) hosted an alumni dinner in honour of Rector Sir Roy Anderson's visit to Thailand.
On Friday 13 March 2009, alumni welcomed Sir Roy Anderson to a cocktail reception and dinner at the prestigious Royal Meridien Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok. Over 40 people attended the event among who were special guests Her Excellency Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Minister for Science and Technology and Imperial alumna (Physics 1970), representatives from the British Embassy in Thailand and the British High Commission in Singapore. Alumni enjoyed reminiscing with old friends and meeting new ones and appreciated the opportunity to hear the Rector speak about Imperial College’s latest developments in areas such as global health, global security, climate change and clean energy technologies. Punsa Roengpithya (Engineering 2000), the president of the Imperial College Association of Thailand (ICAT), was equally impressed with the evening: “The event was a tremendous success with over 40 alumni and VIP guests attending. Sir Roy greatly impressed the audience with his vision for the College. The feedback (from alumni) was fairly unanimous: please organise more of these events!" Our thanks to the Imperial College Association of Thailand, in particular to Punsa Roengpithya, for organising this special event.
