Phosphorus nanostructures – to Bi or not to Bi?

An EPSRC CASE collaboration between the Chemistry department and RGB Ltd to be highlighted as the Frontispiece of the forthcoming edition of Angewandte Chemie.

An EPSRC CASE collaboration between the Chemistry department and RGB Ltd  will be highlighted as the Frontispiece of the forthcoming edition of Angewandte Chemie. The paper describes the synthesis of phosphorus nanorods of two differing morphologies, in both the presence and absence of a bismuth catalyst. Not only do these materials represent a new class of elemental nanorods but they also give valuable insight into the complex allotropy of phosphorus. The paper can be found through DOI: 10.1002/anie.200805222 see here
