THE ROUND TABLE: Commonwealth Awards for Young Scholars 2009
In celebration of the centenary of The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs and the 60th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, 6 Commonwealth Awards for Young Scholars will be awarded...
Each student will undertake a 3 week study visit to a Commonwealth country in the summer of 2009 as part of his or her existing academic research projects (either undergraduate or postgraduate). On their return, scholars will write up their research into an article for publication in The Round Table and disseminate their findings through presentations to other university students. The awards will offer an unrivalled professional opportunity and an unforgettable experience for personal development to promising studentswho may have had little or no experience of the Commonwealth as an institution, and will provide an initial stepping stone onto a promising academic career.
Successful scholars will benefit from:
- A £1,000 prize
- A travel grant for a 3 week research visit to a Commonwealth country in the summer of 2009
- An opportunity for their research to be published in The Round Table: the Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs
Applicants should complete the online application form and return it, with a sample of their academic work and reference from their research project supervisor, to the Round Table Hodson Committee at roundtablecentenary@hotmail.co.uk by 5pm on Monday 8th June 2009.
