Fortis Investments: European University Investment Challenge 2007
Do you have what it takes to outperform the European equity market as a professional fund manager?
Asset Management is the business of managing client assets and making it grow. An asset manager invests assets on behalf of its clients and give them access to a wide range of traditional and alternative investment product offerings. Fortis Investments is the autonomous global asset management arm of Fortis. With total assets under management (AuM) of €125 billion as of 31st March 2007, Fortis Investments has established itself today as one of the leading European asset managers. Fortis Investments profiles itself as an active asset management company which means that Fortis Investments aims to outperform the benchmark by means of dynamic asset allocation or through actively selecting equities and/or bonds.
In fall 2007 Fortis Investments organises the European University Investment Challenge in order to provide students the unique opportunity to get introduced to the professional asset management industry and test their investment knowledge in practice within an environment that is highly comparable to the real asset management world. In addition, the student teams will be rewarded with a money prize if they succeed to generate excess return above the starting cash amount of €100,000.
This challenge aspires to offer an unique competition amongst different universities throughout Europe in order to develop the analytical and stock picking capacities of graduate students, and increase their awareness of the stock environment. The competition is structured in such a way that it optimally reflects the real life experience in the asset management industry. The objective of the challenge is to build a concentrated and focused equity portfolio in order to generate an excess return above the MSCI Europe Net Return (EUR) Index over the period of the competition.
