Prof Mike Duff elected to the Royal Society

Great news for Physics

Great news for the Physics department

Professor Mike DuffThe Physics department are delighted to announce that Professor Mike Duff has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for his research in String Theory

"Michael Duff has made key contributions to developing quantum ideas of supergravity, string theory and M-theory. These include the discovery of conformal anomalies and the applications of index theorems in supergravity. He is also known for his early work on Kaluza-Klein compactification on K3 and manifolds of weak G2 holonomy. This, together with his work on P-brane solitons and their associated anomalies, has proved to be of great significance to modern developments in string theory and M-theory."
