Prof Mike Duff elected to the Royal Society
Great news for the Physics department
The Physics department are delighted to announce that Professor Mike Duff has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for his research in String Theory
"Michael Duff has made key contributions to developing quantum ideas of supergravity, string theory and M-theory. These include the discovery of conformal anomalies and the applications of index theorems in supergravity. He is also known for his early work on Kaluza-Klein compactification on K3 and manifolds of weak G2 holonomy. This, together with his work on P-brane solitons and their associated anomalies, has proved to be of great significance to modern developments in string theory and M-theory."
