Dr Peter J. Fryer (Charing Cross Hospital Medical School 1957)

Dr Peter Fryer was born 21st Dec 1930. He attended Glendale Grammar School and studied at Charing Cross Medical School  (1952 - 1957) before going into general practice. He and his family moved to Suffolk in the early 1960s and Peter joined a practice on the Shotley peninsula, where he eventually became senior partner. He was a much loved family doctor.

He also developed an interest in non-western medicine, qualified in medical acupuncture in the early 1980s and incorporated acupuncture into his NHS work as well as practicing privately. He retired from the NHS in 1996 but continued working as an acupuncturist. After a couple of years of poor health he suffered a stroke and died on 19th February 2009. He leaves 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
