Imperial College Alumni Association of Singapore - Grid computing seminars - Event report

Grid is good

A ten part public lecture series organised with the National Library Board and the National Grid Office in Singapore.

The Imperial College Alumni Association of Singapore (ICAAS) recently completed a ten part public lecture series, organised with the National Library Board and the National Grid Office in Singapore. The series was supported by the Singapore Computer Society. Entitled "Grid Is Good: Unleashing Grid Computing To Power Business, Education & Life", the monthly lecture series started in February 2006 and ended in November 2006. This title is a spin on Michael Douglas' line "Greed is good" in the movie 'Wall Street'. The talks were held at the National Library building and were open to members of the public without charge.

Under ICAAS's partnership with the National Library Board, we have hitherto organised a total of 70 lectures with the NLB since January 2001. As part of the Imperial College's Centenary celebrations in 2007, we aim to organise another 30 lectures to reach the target of 100.
