1958 Started undergraduate degree at Imperial
1960 Awarded David Spurr Memorial Medal (for Chemical Engineering student of greatest merit)
1960 Elected to Links Club
1961 Graduated in Chemical Engineering  with 1st class honours (the only first class awarded by the university of London that year!)
1961 Awarded the Hinchley Medal by institute of Chemical Engineers (to student of greatest merit at the final examinations in Chemical Engineering)
1961 Awarded Royal Society of Arts Medal "for the outstanding college final year student, in addition to high academic standard, such qualities as character and powers of leadership are taken into account"
1961 Awarded William Peck Prize "to student in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology for proficiency in the final examinations in Chemical Engineering and in the design project"
1961 Elected president of City and Guilds Student Union
1961and 1962  Awarded Salteres Industrial Research Scholarship
1963 Assistant lecturer in Dept Chemical Engineering
1966 Awarded PhD
1966 Awarded Armstrong Medal and Prize for an outstanding piece of research
1967 Appointed lecturer in Dept Chemical Engineering
1966-1969 Appointed examiner to Council of Engineering Institutions
1969 left the academic world for a long and distinguished career both in the UK and abroad with Shell International Petroleum Company, from where he retired early on medical grounds in 1995.
 
Dad was always incredibly proud of his association with Imperial College.
