Develop your enterprise skills with the Careers Advisory Service

On 12 March 2008 the UK Government launched the Enterprise Strategy. The Strategy's vision is to make the UK the most enterprising economy in the world and the best place to start and grow a business. At Imperial College we know that many of our students and graduates will contribute to Britain's enterprise culture and so the Careers Advisory Service is launching a series of workshops and seminars to assist undergraduates and post graduates develop their enterprise skills.

Did you know...?

  • At the start of 2007 there were 4.7 million businesses in the UK, over 950 thousand (25%) more than in 2000.
  • 99.9% of UK businesses are SMEs (less than 250 employees).
  • SMEs employ 13.5 million people - 59.2 per cent of the total private sector workforce.
  • SMEs contribute as much as large business to UK output (50 per cent of Gross Value Added) and turnover (51.5 per cent).
  • The World Bank ranks the UK second in Europe, and in the top ten economies (out of 181) on measures of the ease of doing business.

The Workshopsworkshop

Sessions will be available through the Wednesday afternoon skills workshops programme, the Graduate Schools' transferable skills programme and through your department. We also hope to offer a major whole day competition event towards the end of the academic year with a panel of employer judges and advisers.
