St Marys 1969 Reunion

St Mary's class of 1969

40th anniversary of the St Mary's class of 1969

A reunion lunch was held at the Paddington Hilton Hotel on Sunday 17th May for the St Mary's class of 1969, organised by Dr Robin Kelso (St Mary's 1969)

The reunion was well attended with thirty former classmates returning to meet, many bringing partners.  The St Mary's class of 1969 have organised several catch ups over the years since graduation with reunions held at 10, 25 and 30 year intervals. For some who returned for this 40th reunion however it marked the first time they had met up since leaving St Mary's back in 1969.

At first people were apprehensive when walking into the room, wondering if they would recognise anyone after 40 years, although it quickly became apparent hat the men had changed more than the women over time! After a few introductions and a glass or two of wine, conversation flowed as memories were shared of happy and carefree days as students at W2, only interrupted by the occasional frantic revision for exams.  By the end of the lunch it was readily agreed that although appearances may have changed over the years, the voices and the mannerisms of classmates remained the same.

The day was heralded a great success by all, the next reunion will be held in five years time to mark the classes 45th anniversary.

Many thanks go to Robin Kelso for organising this event and for producing a newsletter of his fellow 1969 classmates.
