Dr Fu Siong Ng, a Cardiology Specialist Registrar and Clinical Research Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) has been awarded a MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship
Dr Fu Siong Ng, a Cardiology Specialist Registrar in Professor Nicholas Peters' research group at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), has been awarded a prestigious MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship. Dr Ng's field of interest is Cardiac Electrophysiology, and he is currently investigating pharmacological modulation of cardiomyocyte coupling during myocardial ischaemia and during post-infarction remodelling as a potential therapeutic target to reduce the incidence of lethal ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
The MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowships provide support for clinically qualified, active professionals to undertake specialised or further research training in the bio-medical sciences within the UK. The scheme is designed to accommodate the dual clinical-research training career path by allowing fellows to spend up to 20 per cent of their time on NHS sessions. Fellows are required to register for a research degree, normally a PhD, based on research undertaken during the fellowship.
Dr Ng has been awarded just over £126,000 over a 2 year period. The Centre extends warm congratulations to Dr Ng on this excellent achievement.
