Dr Patrick A.J. Ramage (Charing Cross Medical School 1962)

Dr Patrick Ramage was a former GP in Fownhope, Herefordshire. He was born in 1935, qualified at Charing Cross Medical School in 1962, and died from respiratory and cardiac failure on 19 May 2009.
Patrick had a talent for surgery but was drawn into general practice when he did a short term locum post in Fownhope. He took over the singlehanded practice in 1964, remaining there until retirement in 1995. He provided domiciliary obstetric care and an ambitious and successful minor surgery service. The practice grew from a room in his house to a large new medical centre, for which he oversaw the design, building and staffing. Patrick was widely regarded as an excellenl clinician and was much loved by his patients.
Patrick worked tirelessly for various charities, was a Rotarian, and Chairman of the Parish Council. At home he was an expert in wine, a talented gardener, and a much loved grandfather. He leaves his wife, Mary, two children (one of whom is herself a GP, trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School), and two grandchildren.
