Mr Ralph A.P. Pritchard (Civil and Environmental Engineering 1950)
Provided by Mary Pritchard
After graduating Ralph joined Mond Division of Imperial Chemical Industries, during his 17 years at the company he spent two years in Kenya for the construction, start-up and operation of a cross country pipeline and water treatment plant. He spent a further three years as Project Director for the development of a fertiliser industry in Zambia. In 1970 he returned to London to join the Engineering Management and Project Management Departments of Bechtel International.
Ralph was a wonderful man with so many interests which he was able to pursue in his retirement. He was a fine beekeeper, wood turner, yatchsman and a good golfer. He also had a strong Christian faith and was an Elder at Teignmouth Baptist Church, where his kindness and wisdom were very much appreciated.
Ralph passed away peacefully at Holcombe Hall Nursing Home, aged 82 years, on Saturday 17 February 2007. He was a dearly loved husband of Mary and the late Joy, loving father to Christopher, Jane, Bob and step-father to Peter, Rhys and Sophie. He was a devoted grandfather who will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends. I have lost a truly loving husband.
