Accompanied by over 5,000 guests at two ceremonies across the day in the Royal Albert Hall, Imperial graduates celebrated the successful conclusion of their studies at the College, and were officially inducted into the community of almost 150,000 Imperial alumni worldwide.

Despite the challenging financial environment these new graduates face, Rector Sir Roy Anderson encouraged them to take heart in the high quality and excellent reputation of their education:

“Although times are certainly harder than we have seen for a while, demand for Imperial graduates remains strong,” said Sir Roy. “Employers know that you will help them to address challenges and manage change. Your education here is highly prized both in the UK and abroad.”

Commemoration Day also provided an opportunity to introduce new graduates to the services offered by the College’s Office of Alumni and Development, which provides services and events from around 100,000 of Imperial Alumni around the world. The office represents the main link for graduates to the College community, and works to maintain the association and affection between Imperial and its alumni.

The services offered by the Office of Alumni and Development , include continued access to the Central Library and Careers Service, regular communications from the College, interactive web services, and a varied programme of alumni events and reunions both in the UK and around the world. The office also produces a bi-annual alumni magazine, Imperial Matters, the new issue of which is currently available.
