Ambassador visit to China - event report

Professor Nigel Brandon

Professor Nigel Brandon pays a visit to the Beijing alumni

Over 40 alumni from Imperial College London and other top-class UK universities attended an alumni lecture by International Ambassador Professor Nigel Brandon in Beijing on Saturday 24 October 2009.

The event was jointly organised by the Imperial College Alumni Association of China, Beijing (ICAAC) and the Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) and proved a huge success with all attendees. It enabled alumni to hear the latest developments in renewable energy from Professor Brandon who is Executive Director of the Energy Futures Lab at Imperial College as well as the Shell Chair in Sustainable Development in Energy. Entitled Engineering our Energy Future, Professor Brandon's presentation illustrated the latest technological advancement of hydrogen fuel cells at Imperial College London, which resulted in a flurry of questions by the audience.

Following the main lecture, a separate talk was held for Imperial alumni, in which Professor Brandon updated them on life today at the College. To round off the day, the ICAAC hosted a sumptuous welcome dinner for Professor Brandon and attendees at the Man De Lou Restaurant.

A special thanks to Zhuohui Luo (Business School MBA 2001), Secretary General of ICAAC for organising such an enjoyable and informative event.
