Regional Golf Retreat
Members from the Imperial College Alumni Associations of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand had a 4-day golf outing in Pattaya and Bangkok on 1 - 4 Dec 2005. In all, there were 2 members from Malaysia (led by their Honorary Secretary Mr. Lau Kin Wai), 7 from Singapore (led by their President, Dr. Lee Hing-Yan), and 3 from Thailand. The golf games were held at the Amata Spring, Laem Chabang, and Plataluang Navy golf courses.
Dr. Viphandh Roengpithya, our Thai host, was most hospitable and hosted dinners for the visitors including one at the Asian University of Science & Technology, where he is the president. The three alumni associations took turns to present and share their respective activities. We had a fruitful discussion on how to foster closer regional ties. We agreed to organise more joint events in future.
