FSTEP: Financial Sector talent Enrichment Programme for Malaysian students

FSTEP

Commercial, Investment, Insurance & Takaful Islamic Banking.

Greetings from Malaysia.

I am very pleased to announce a Malaysian initiative called the Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme; FSTEP, for short.  FSTEP is the outcome of an industry driven effort to recruit and develop human capital to support the dynamic growth of the financial services industry in Malaysia.

Under the support of the Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia), the Malaysian banking and insurance industry players collaborated with the Institute of Banks in Malaysia (IBBM) to fund and manage the exclusive and prestigious Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme (FSTEP).

FSTEP is targeted to attract graduates from diverse academic backgrounds to pursue exciting and successful careers in the financial services industry. Qualified graduates will be awarded a scholarship with a monthly allowance and stand to acquire and develop essential skills under our one-year training programme.

Our training programme provides an intensive 7-month classroom training in banking and insurance including Islamic banking and Takaful. The comprehensive training module encompasses simulations, workshops, case studies as well as internships with financial institutions in Malaysia. Participants will also undergo personal development modules and be involved in community projects aimed at developing well-rounded individuals.  The remaining 5-month will comprise internship at one of the institutions in the Malaysian Financial Services industry.

We are targeting high calibre Malaysian graduates with CGPAs not less than 3.25 from both local and foreign institutions of higher learning. Fresh graduates and those with not more than 3 years of working experience and keen to pursue a career in the financial services industry are encouraged to apply.

In this regard, I am happy to announce FSTEP has embarked on an exercise to enroll interested and qualified Malaysian graduates into our programme for the 5th Batch commencing February 19, 2010.  We are desirous of achieving a balanced mix of candidates from the local and foreign universities, based on their academic, English language ability and co-curricular merits.
