A new funding opportunity for the Yemen National Schistosomiasis Control Project

A new funding opportunity for the Yemen National Schistosomiasis Control Project means that the round of treatment given in 2008 to over 2 million school-aged children can be followed up with treatments over a 5 or 6 year period throughout the country wherever prevalence justifies treatment. The World Bank is currently negotiating a grant to Yemen for treatment of schistosomiasis and intestinal helminths, and both the World Health Organisation and SCI will be partners in the project, with SCI responsible for Technical Assistance and Monitoring and Evaluation.
