Sakurai Prize for Tom Kibble

Profesor Tom Kibble has been jointly awarded the American Physical Society J.J.Sakurai 2010 Prize
We are delighted to announce that Tom Kibble has been awarded the
American Physical Society 2010 J.J. Sakurai Prize for Theoretical Particle
Physics, shared with Drs. R. Brout, Université Libre de Bruxelles;
F. Englert, Université Libre de Bruxelles; G.S. Guralnik, Brown University;
C.R. Hagen, University of Rochester and P.W. Higgs, University of Edinburgh,
Emeritus.
The Prize was established to recognize and encourage outstanding achievement
in particle theory. It will be awarded at a special ceremony in Washington
DC in February 2010 and the citation that will appear on the certificate reads
as follows:
"For elucidation of the properties of spontaneous symmetry breaking in
four-dimensional relativistic gauge theory and of the mechanism for the
consistent generation of vector boson masses."
Many congratulations to Tom for his receipt of this prestigious award.
