Mr Edward L. Ellis (Electrical Engineering 1955)

After leaving Eton College, followed by national service in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Edward read Electrical Engineering at City and Guilds College, obtaining a second class honours degree in 1955. He then joined his father in the family firm of Mewburn Ellis, qualifying as a Chartered Patent Agent in 1964.
His great interest was astronomy so, when he retired in 1991, he joined the University of Hertfordshire, obtaining an MSc in Astronomy and Astronautics in 1994. He also took up running, with a group of young women, and completed many half marathons as well as the Malta Challenge marathon, a tough three day event.
Edward is survived by his wife, four children and seven grandchildren.
