Hugh Robertson, Minister for Sport and the Olympics, visits Imperial on 8 December
Imperial welcomed the Minister for Sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson, for the BUCS Senior Managers Christmas Seminar on Wednesday 8 December.
Head of Sport Neil Mosley was delighted to welcome the Minister for Sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson, to Imperial College for the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Senior Managers Christmas Seminar on Wednesday December 8. The seminar formed the basis for Directors of Sport from all over the UK to come together to share best practice and define opportunities for university sport.
Mr Robertson highlighted the significance of university sport for the nation, as a breeding ground for Olympians, a training zone for elite athletes and an integral component of the overall student experience. Mr Robertson and a panel of experts then held a Questions and Answer session to inform BUCS members of Government plans to extend opportunities available through sport as well as plans for the delivery of the Olympic Legacy.
New Media was a hot topic for the day, with Chris Lightfoot discussing the importance of digital marketing in relation to ever-tightening budgets, networking and changing consumer behaviour.
As a voice for university sport, BUCS endeavors to enhance the student experience in performance, competition and participation across the country. This year’s Christmas Seminar at Imperial was an opportunity to update all BUCS members on new developments, celebrate recent successes and work to shape the future of university sport.
