Jonathan Baillie from the Institute of Zoology   has just completed a series of workshops on biodiversity indices. Working with botanists and zoologists he has been able to shed new light on the important questions which challenge those working to conserve biodiversity across the planet. 'This has been an interesting and productive experience, and I doubt if we would have been able to achieve so much had we not been able to work together in this way' said Jonathan at the end of the workshops. ‘We were able to attract a first class team of people and the discussions have taken the work to a new level’. The workshops ran in April, July and September 2006 and were  part of a joint NERC Centre for Populations Biology/Institute of Zoology initiative funded by the Natural Environment Research Council.

Details of the workshop aims can be found on the workshop pages .

A report on the first of the workshops can be seen on the IoZ web site  .
