Professor Evan Evans from the University of British Columbia, Canada will be with us from 1 September 2005 to the end of October 2005.

Professor Evan Evans from the University of British Columbia, Canada will be with us from 1 September 2005 to the end of October 2005.

His research focuses on materials of biological origin and soft organic interfaces.  The general objectives of the research in his laboratory are to expose the underlying physical mechanisms used by nature in design of complex organisms and to derive insights for condensed matter physics from study of biological interfaces. Studies are focussed on elasticity and dynamics of synthetic and natural membranes, adhesion of soft organic interfaces and cellular organisms and chemical-mechanical energy transduction (e.g. in cell locomotion)
