Away Day

Away Day

On the 29th-30th September 2005, a gathering of twenty one CBC members took place to look at the CBC's future plans.

In late September 2005, twenty one academic CBC members met for an away day at Wyck Hill House. The aim was to define the purpose of the CBC and to envisage what the future held for the centre.

Both objectives were met with collective input from all attendees.

The group collectively defined the CBC as a centre for:

  • The training of physical sciences graduates in Chemical Biology via the Doctoral Training Centre
  • Significant research, including studies of non-specific drug binding, multi-scale mathematical methods for biological modelling and single cell proteomics
  • Scientific discussion
  • Bringing physical and life scientists together, integrating skills from all areas

The ambition of the CBC is to be an international centre for world-class research in Chemical Biology.  Additional future objectives are to enable further research from both CBC members, Research Fellows and Visiting Professors.
