Prof Nigel GrahamProf MaksimovicDr Ivan StoianovOn Monday 7th March, Professor Nigel Graham and Dr Ivan Stoianov presented a paper entitled, “Wireless Sensor Networks: Creating ‘Smart Infrastructure”, to the Institution of Civil Engineers. The paper was the recipient of the 2010 Telford Gold Medal, which is the highest award by the ICE for a journal paper and is awarded for an outstanding paper believed to be of the highest practical value to the profession. The paper was co-authored by Professor Cedo Maksimovic and colleagues at the University of Cambridge.

 

Prof MaksimovicProf  Čedo Maksimović, was invited to take part in the special UNESCO Thematic Session for Presentation of the UNESCO-IHP Urban Water Book Series, that was held during the event WWD, World Water Day, 20 March 2011, Cape Town, South Africa, , Launch of UNESCO - IHP Urban Water Book Series,

He was also  invited to take part in the special UNESCO Thematic Session and launch of the book  Ground Water Management in Urban Areas. It was held on the occasion of the event WWD, World Water Day, 2011, He presented a talk on: Urban Flooding and Groundwater, Cape Town, South Africa, 21 March 2011

He delivered an invited lecture on:  Real time prediction of flows using rapid simulation, FRMRC2 SWP3 co location workshop with Dublin City Council, 28 February 2011.

Prof  Čedo Maksimović  delivered and invited talk on: Advanced modelling, prediction and emergency management of surface/pluvial urban flooding”  at the SNIFER Flood Risk Management  Conference 2011, Location: Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, 9 – 10 February

 

Stephen SmithCongratulations  to Professor Stephen Smith on the success of his inaugural lecture held on the 17th March. Everyone was greatly impressed by the quality of his lecture and his outstanding career achievements that the lecture described.
