IDEA League Sports Event 2011
This year’s IDEA League inter-university competition was held in Zurich last week, with Imperial teams producing some tremendous performances to finish 2nd overall – only narrowly beaten by the hosts from Zurich by 2 points.
The annual event opened with students from Imperial, TU Delft, ETH Zurich and RWTH Aachen forming mixed teams for a curling tournament. After dinner, the students then enjoyed an ice-skating disco.
Down to business and Imperial dominated the fencing competition, with Outi Supponen, Rob Shaw, Charlotte Levin and Marcello Colombino from the Imperial 1st team taking the spoils impressively. Outi Supponen proved the strongest in foil, only dropping 1 point throughout the whole event!
Both men’s and women’s Imperial futsal teams performed really well to finish in 2nd place, with our ice hockey team also finishing 2nd overall.
The final results were:
- Zurich
- Imperial
- Aachen
- Delft
Congratulations to all competitors on a fantastic performance.
