Imperial Pride Network has been shortlisted for the 'Outstanding LGBTQIA+ Network of the Year' category at the Employee Network Awards 2026, marking a significant milestone as the network celebrates 20 years of supporting, connecting and championing Imperial's LGBTQIA+ community.

The Employee Network Awards celebrate organisations and employee networks that are driving positive change through diversity, equity and inclusion. Thousands of organisations are nominated each year, with shortlisted networks recognised for their contribution to creating more inclusive workplaces.

Recognising the past and present

The Imperial Pride Network has brought together LGBTQIA+ staff, postgraduate students and allies from across the university, creating opportunities to connect, share experiences and celebrate diversity. Since its founding in 2006, the network has been shaped by the dedication of volunteers who have worked to foster a culture of belonging and inclusion throughout Imperial.

The network has played an important role in strengthening collaboration between staff networks, professional services and academic departments, helping embed equality, diversity and inclusion into everyday university life. Through these partnerships, Imperial Pride Network has sought to create spaces where people feel welcomed, valued and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work and study.

Philip Howell-Williams (Co-chair):

"For 20 years, the Imperial Pride Network has been built by people who care deeply about creating a more inclusive university. This nomination is a celebration of every volunteer, committee member, ally and community member who has contributed their time, energy and passion to making that possible."

Alex Carroll (Co-chair):

"We're incredibly proud of what the network has achieved together. From bringing people together through LGBTQIA+ History Month and Pride Month celebrations, to creating opportunities for learning, collaboration and meaningful conversations that strengthen our community. These moments of connection matter because they help people feel seen, supported and able to be themselves."
