Imperial College London welcomed student innovators and education leaders from the UK and Singapore to the Students Using Learning Analytics Joint Conference on 11 December 2025 at its South Kensington campus. Co-hosted with Nanyang Technological University, the event highlighted Imperial’s leadership in learning analytics and international education partnerships.
On 11 December 2025, Imperial College London’s South Kensington Campus hosted the Students Using Learning Analytics Imperial–Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Joint Conference.
The conference was co-hosted and organised by Professor Camille Kandiko Howson and her Learning Analytics team from Imperial, together with Dr Lim Fun Siong and his ATLAS team from NTU. It formed part of the Imperial–NTU Education Fund, under which both institutions independently organised hackathons focused on Learning Analytics.
The Reimagine Learning with Learning Analytics @ NTU Hackathon was conducted in Singapore between August and October 2025. As recognition for their achievement, the top two winning teams were invited to Imperial to present at the joint conference.
At Imperial, the scholars shared their projects, interacted with Imperial’s student hackathon winners, and engaged with faculty members from Imperial’s Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship (CHERS).
During the event, the scholars presented their projects, interacted with Imperial students, and engaged with faculty members from Imperial’s Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship (CHERS).
From learning to contributing
Hosting the conference at Imperial provided the TAISP scholars with the opportunity to take their work beyond Singapore, receive real-time feedback from an international academic audience, and exchange ideas with Imperial students and faculty. The insights gained will be brought back to further enrich NALA and lay the groundwork for future collaboration between the institutions.
Reflecting on the conference experience, one of the participants, Farsat said: “Presenting at an international academic conference for the first time was both exhilarating and eye-opening. While initially nerve-wracking, the audience’s genuine interest in my team’s project quickly transformed my nerves into confidence. It was an invaluable experience that proved to me that anyone can create meaningful change.”
The conference proved to be an unforgettable experience for all involved, going beyond an ordinary overseas study tour and equipping participants with academic, professional and personal perspectives that will shape their journeys ahead.
In addition to the conference programme, the visit to Imperial was further enriched through a series of faculty engagement sessions thoughtfully arranged by Dr Jackie Bell. Through her coordination, the scholars had the opportunity to engage with faculty members and researchers across Imperial’s Department of Computing, gaining insights into diverse research initiatives and pedagogical approaches.
Beyond their time at Imperial College London, the scholars also visited the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge as part of their wider UK visit.
