Looking back at 2025 - what did it look like to be Undaunted in the face of climate change?

The Undaunted team has been reflecting on another busy year of climate innovation activity - and it's been full, fun and inspiring!

So, what did it look like to be Undaunted in the face of climate change in 2025? Here are just a few of the things that we've been up to over the past 12 months – take a look – you might spot yourself!

January

We celebrated our Better Futures Retrofit Accelerator (BFRA), which aimed to support industry transformation across the built environment sector, scaling retrofit delivery in London. It supported two cohorts of SMEs, wrapping up in January 2025. Read the BFRA summary report.

February

The Greenhouse Cohort 7 got radically honest feedback at our speed networking Investor Evening. Investors from our innovation community moved around the room from startup to startup, providing feedback designed to get founders to fine tune their elevator pitches. March

The 2025 H&M Global Change Awards attracted 476 ideas from 69 countries, narrowed down to a shortlist of 20. Congratulations to Undaunted startups Brilliant Dyes and PulpaTronics, awarded a spot in the top ten winning teams, and to Tera Mira and Sequinova, selected as top 20 finalists!

April

Cohort 8 embarked on The Greenhouse, our 12-month accelerator programme designed specifically to support climate innovators, including: up to £20k equity-free grant funding; access to Imperial’s world-class facilities, expertise, networks; expert coaching, industry mentorship, workshops.

May

Cohort 7 graduated from The Greenhouse accelerator with a strong, confident set of pitches to a packed Royal Institution theatre. Congratulations to the winning pitches of the day, as voted for by our Demo Day audience! First prize: Biofonic; Second prize: Sequinova; Third prize: HUID.

June

We welcomed members of the Global Network to London for our London Climate Action Week Innovation Hub. The Global Network connects the world’s climate and nature Entrepreneur Support Organisations. Together, we’re developing a stronger, more cohesive, and better-resourced ecosystem enabling more innovators around the world to create and scale high quality solutions rapidly.

July 

We held our annual Alumni Summit. Now numbering over 165 startups, our alumni companies, which are part of our alumni network, have raised over £1.3 billion investment, created 1,600+ jobs, and are tackling the climate crisis in 30+ countries. 

Undaunted’s Climate Solutions Catalyst (CSC) also launched its search tool, ALMa, which has the power to unearth untapped academic research with huge potential to tackle climate change if it can be supported to commercialise. 

August

Our Climate Solutions Catalyst launched its first cohort, selected from over 10,000 papers across 13 UK universities. Three outstanding teams working in green catalysis received tailored support to explore routes to impact.

ISONIK, who met on Imperial’s MSc Cleantech Innovation, came first in the 2025 UK final of ClimateLaunchpad. Neela Biotech and TeraBora came second and third respectively. All three are now on The Greenhouse.

September

Undaunted launched its new greenhouse gas removal accelerator at CO₂RE’s three day conference, celebrating its GGR-D Programme. CO₂RE recently launched its flagship report bringing together key research insights and lessons from across the GGR-D Programme.

October

We celebrated the final of the H&F Green Innovators programme: supporting local organisations to bring sustainable solutions to Hammersmith & Fulham.

EarthScale launched its first cohort, on a journey designed to bridge the gap between prototype and commercialisation.

 

The Greenhouse Cohort 9 also embarked on our 12-month accelerator programme. It’s our largest cohort to date comprising 19 early-stage, ‘pre-seed’ startups who are ready to take their tech to the next level: validating their business models, landing pilots, and raising investment.

November

Imperial was named Outstanding Entrepreneurial University at the 2025 Times Higher Education Awards!

Its unique entrepreneurial ecosystem is key to this mission, through initiatives and facilities such as the Imperial Enterprise Lab, Advanced Hackspace, the Imperial Incubator and Imperial's climate innovation hub, Undaunted.

December

We hosted another Female Founders Community Dinner with Climate Connection and British Land. 25 female founders, 11 investors, and 9 subject-matter experts spent the evening discussing challenges and getting concrete advice.

Our Climate Solutions Catalyst also reached a milestone, celebrating Cohort 1’s completion of its programme of support for academics - stay tuned for Cohort 2!
