The Gender Equity Working Group is part of the School of Public Health People & Culture Committee. Our purpose is to highlight and address gender-related inequities across the School, ensuring that all staff can participate fully, progress equitably, and feel supported in their work. We aim to ensure that we collectively drive forward the School's Athena SWAN Action Plan 2024 (PDF).
Current priorities
Our current priorities include:
- Highlighting gender inequities in research outputs of the School (e.g. publications) to foster an understanding that gender inequity is everyone's business in the School of Public Health (including appreciation of wider societal gender inequities)
- Listening to gender equity issues that staff members raise and using existing data (e.g. culture survey) to highlight where support may need to be targeted.
- Working to address inequities in workload, recognition, and research output by gender and spotlight where intersectionality exists with other characteristics such as ethnicity and socio-economic background.
