Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen in the Environmental Research Group (ERG) to join our team as an Operation Officer for the WellHome indoor air quality community-based research study.

WellHome is a pioneering project to investigate the quality of air both inside and outside the home. Working with 100 households from across West London, we will be looking at the impact of air quality on our health and delivering a programme of outreach and public engagement.  Find out more about the study.

The post holder will play a critical role in the delivery of the WellHome project, supporting our fieldwork within the local community over the next 12 months.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To carry out the installation and collection of air pollution sensors and the administration of questionnaires in our WellHome participating homes.
  • Work closely with members of the WellHome Team to ensure the smooth running of the field work (i.e. equipment to be deployed is packed and ready, supplies are stocked up etc).
  • Other duties as reasonably required by the WellHome research team and the Environmental Research Group.

Essential requirements

  • Technical background and/or strong interest in the subject
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of people.

Experience

  • Strong organisational and time management skills including ability to plan and prioritise conflicting deadlines, set objectives and work well under pressure. 
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of interacting with the public.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively.
  • Proven numerical skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively with minimum supervision.

Further information

This is a part-time fixed term contract for up to 12 months, working 3 days a week (21 hours). The post holder will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
