These scholarships are for candidates from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries applying for part-time Master’s study by distance learning on selected courses, including the Master of Public Health (Online)

The scholarships are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. By attracting individuals with outstanding talent and identifiable potential from all backgrounds and supporting them to become leaders and innovators in their home countries, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) combines sustainable development with the UK national interest and provides opportunities for international partnerships and collaboration. 

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country.
  • By September 2026, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases.
  • Be unable to afford to study the programme without this scholarship.
  • Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format.

The School of Public Health has been awarded five scholarships for applicants to the Master of Public Health (online) programme for entry in 2026. Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees at the overseas rate.

How to apply

Applications for Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year are now open from 16:00 GMT on Tuesday 17 February 2026.

The deadline closing date for submitting an application is 16:00 BST on Tuesday 31 March 2026. The scholarships are for study beginning in September/October 2026. 

Applications to the CSC must be made using the CSC’s online application system, CSC Central

The CSC is unable to accept any applications or documentation not submitted via the online application system. If you experience any issues, please contact info@cscuk.org.uk

Applications will be considered according to the following selection criteria: 

  • Candidate merit. 
  • Quality of study plan. 
  • Potential impact on the development of the candidate’s home country. 

Applications will only be considered if individuals have also submitted an application for the Master of Public Health (online) programme via the Imperial website.
