I am the Learning and Development Officer in the Property Division.
Why do you think the Technician Commitment is important?
It's essential that we continue to equip and develop our technicians with the skills and knowledge needed for the future, while also recognising and valuing the important contributions they make at Imperial.
What do you enjoy about being involved with the Technician Commitment?
It's a privilege to work alongside a fantastic group of colleagues from across Imperial, all connected by shared goals. My involvement also allows me to represent my division, ensuring that our specific needs and the challenges faced by our technicians are reflected in the Technician Commitment.
What has the Technician Commitment achieved at Imperial that you are most proud of?
We're seeing a growing number of technicians actively engaging in learning and development, gaining qualifications and recognition for their achievements, and proudly showcasing their work.

In the Property Division, we're proud to have some of the longest-serving Technicians at Imperial, including several technicians with over 40 years of service. Their deep knowledge of our historic buildings and the systems that keep them running is invaluable.
What is your top tip for technicians who would like to progress their careers at Imperial?’
Make the most of the many resources available to support your growth. If you're unsure where to begin, speak with your line manager, book a micro-coaching session, or reach out to your Learning and Development representative. Starting this conversation could be the turning point in your career!
Tell us something that people would be surprised to find out about you!
This was, hands down, the hardest question to answer! I even outsourced the thinking to ChatGPT. It enthusiastically suggested things like unique hobbies, hidden talents, and wild adventures—swimming with dolphins, skydiving… You know, the usual stuff that other people do except me!
In fact, the most surprising thing about me might be how unsurprising I am. Even I was surprised by how uninteresting I apparently am!
