Pillars of the scheme
Develop your sustainability knowledge through activities such as:
- Sustainability webinars/talks/workshops (not part of your studies)
- Climate education workshops such as a Climate Fresk or Grantham’s Introduction to Climate Change Course
- Environmental audit training sessions e.g. for the Green Impact audits or Sustainable Halls campaign audits run by SOS UK
Act on what you’ve learnt through activities such as:
- Helping out with Sustainable Imperial pop-up stalls
- Attending outdoor/practical events such as gardening sessions, wildlife surveys, nature walks, litter picks
- Conducting an environmental audit e.g. the Green Impact audits or Sustainable Halls campaign audits run by SOS UK
- Taking part in community outreach opportunities that are sustainability-related
- Attending sustainability-related events led by ICU societies
- Writing sustainability-related blogs
- Providing social media content for Sustainable Imperial channels

Any Imperial student can become a Sustainable Imperial Ambassador, both Undergraduates and Postgraduates.
Sustainable Imperial Ambassadors must contribute at least 5 hours of their time throughout the year, including taking part in at least 1 enrichment and 1 empowerment activity, to receive official recognition.
Award levels based on number of hours contributed to sustainability activities:
- Certificate of participation: > 5 hours
- Bronze certificate: > 10 hours
- Silver certificate: > 20 hours
- Gold certificate: > 40 hours
Sustainable Imperial Ambassadors can submit their evidence via this form https://forms.office.com/e/sX701FTYYq so that their efforts are logged as part of the scheme. Evidence may be in the form of a photo from the event, confirmation message from the event organiser or output of the activity conducted.
As well as meeting other ambassadors at our events and socials we also have a WhatsApp community which any Ambassador can request to join by contacting sustainable@imperial.ac.uk.
