I am the Technical Services Manager at the Molecular Sciences Research Hub in the Department of Chemistry.
Why do you think the Technician Commitment is important?
Technician Commitment is a platform that raises awareness and strategically plans to address long-standing issues in the technical community, such as recognition and career development.
What do you enjoy about being involved with the Technician Commitment?
Echoing the pride that colleagues exhibit in being a technician and celebrating their contributions!
What has the Technician Commitment achieved at Imperial that you are most proud of?
Quite a lot actually, but I would like to highlight networking and collaboration not just within Imperial but across the UK. This allows for the sharing of knowledge, the development of new skills, and the formation of professional relationships.
Tell us something interesting you have discovered about technicians (past or present) at Imperial.
Technicians are a skilled workforce, and it surprises me how diverse the expertise each technician can bring. From being specialists in facilities to creating educational content, workshops and organising successful events, they truly master them all.
What is your top tip for technicians who would like to progress their careers at Imperial?’
Put yourself out there. Do not be afraid to try and grab every opportunity.
